Ugh. Worst Kristin Hannah book. Husband was utterly unlikeable. Wife was full of self doubt. Just so much unnecessary angst with no real point.

This was a solid read. It kept me interested and rooting for the characters. The end was tied up a little too quickly with a too easy bow, but otherwise, this was enjoyable.
The first part of the book was wonderful. Part 2 felt like she was trying to cram an entire novel into half of one. She took on too much, and the result was it felt disjointed and rushed.
While this book was entertaining through the end, the twists were so incredibly unbelievable that it really ruined the story.
I am going with “pick” because it was a compelling story that kept me entertained. That said, there were definitely some major plot holes and a lot left unresolved with the abrupt ending. Ivy did very little actual investigating, which made her a not very likable character. The clues were dead giveaways to the reader, and somehow Ivy missed them. The explanation as to why the procedure happened in the library made absolutely no sense.
I cannot speak to whether any of the book was an accurate portrayal of military or military families, but i found it to be an engaging story, and I could relate to the struggles of managing a career and a family. I found this to be a solid read.
While it does get slow at times, overall it‘s a decent read. My only frustration is that the “mystery” has a lazy wrap up where instead of bringing it out in pieces, the author just paused mid book and explains it all in 2 pages. Second half definitely better than first half.
Bubblegum for the mind. This was an unexpected delight. Easy read - read in about 3 hours. Uncomplicated enjoyment.
There are so many plot holes in this book that it‘s truly hard for me to imagine how it has such a high rating. It reads as if the editor just gave up on it and pushed it out the door.
