My April wrap up 😊📚
The best was definitely Project Hail Mary. It was a fun and fast paced ride.

This was a struggle. Almost didn't finish, but even though I had a hard time following all the "sciency " stuff...I had to know the ending.
If you're a space enthusiast or love science and math thrown into the books you read...this books for you. Just not for me.
This is such a fun light hearted book. I am still in the first 100 pages though. As a math teacher, I love the basic tidbits of math and science and classroom teaching. I really don‘t have a good grasp of science, but Weir explains it well. Very interesting and humorous too!
So fun, funny, nerdy, and lovable, and an exceptional experience on audio. Plus a new character to add to my all-time favorites list (not the main character! But he‘s great, too.)! ❤️
I‘m officially an Andy Weir fan now. I love his writing style. I love his sense of humor. I love that he uses science and math as part of his stories in a way that‘s really accessible. (I am not a math-person at all, you don‘t need to be.)
I need to read Artemis now. Maybe I can work a Half Price Books trip into my day…

I just started this book today, for a book club meeting 5/9:
The first line is a computer saying:
“What's two plus two?“
OMG this was a total delight. The feel-good sci-fi book I never knew I needed. What a crazy, imaginative, thrilling ride.
It took me forever to finish this, but that's just because I am not naturally an audiobook person. This was a suspenseful and interesting book, a highly original first contact story with an unlikely hero and *LOTS* of science. The narrator did a great job, although his rendition of European bureaucrat Stratt (sp?) was slightly ridiculous. Fans of The Martian will likely enjoy it. (No F-bombs this time, though!)
Tagged book won audiobook of the year.

This is a strange book to review. Overall it was a very enjoyable story, and I loved the interactions between Grace and Rocky, as well as the ending to the story. However at times it felt a trifle long winded, and this was exacerbated by the science within the book. I am very glad to have read it but be prepared to give it the time it needs if you read it.
12th and final book finished for #FantasticFiction
*walks in with a very unpopular opinion* I hated this book. It was too long, pretentious, the characters were flatter than paper, and the writing style was overly simplistic and unenjoyable. *slinks back into the darkness*
This was so great! I don‘t read much as Sci-fi, and this his definitely Hard Sci-fi, but it is written in a way that is very entertaining. Also totally fantastic on audiobook. Definitely lived up to the hype! 5⭐️

We all like a good listen now and again. Litsy thinks Project Hail Mary was the best AUDIOBOOK or 2021.

I started this reading challenge for each month of 2022 and I‘m LOVING it 🤩 It‘s helping me branch out and read books I wouldn‘t typically read! #ReadWithAllison

Loved this book soooo much! Highly recommend. Perfect combination of science and humor. I couldn‘t put it down 🖤 #ProjectHailMary #AndyWeir #SciFi
Amaze amaze amaze!
Loved this. The science went waaaay over my head and I didn't always find the main character likeable, but I loved everything about his interactions with Rocky. This was a lot of fun, tense, but hopeful.
READ THIS BOOK!! Thats how good it is. I literally laughed out loud so many times. And I cried. I cried in the middle, and now at the end. I didn‘t want the story to end. Will I ever read another book that I like this much? This author is so talented! I absolutely loved the 2 main characters. They had such a special relationship. They need to make this into a movie. Again, do yourselves a favor and READ THIS BOOK!!
Loved this. Not typically a fan of sci-fi but the storyline, characters, and the logic/science intertwined with flashbacks and present day were engaging.
Ryland Grace wakes up in a spaceship all alone. He doesn‘t remember who he is or even what he‘s supposed to be doing in space. Grace starts to piece together some memories & realizes he‘s out to try & save Earth but his 2 other crewmates are dead. Will Grace save humanity & what will he find along the way?
I really enjoyed this book even with all of science talk. A great start to #NewYearWhoDis
It‘s a rare occasion when both cats are on the same bed snuggling me. Alice is snuggled in the crook of my arm (don‘t mind her bald spots) and Sally is between my legs on top of my wedge pillow 😂
Over half way done with this monster of a book. It‘s been a while since I‘ve read anything over 400 pages!
#Caturday #catsofLitsy
Starting a few days later than planned but finally sitting down to my first book from my #NewYearWhoDis list. Of course I got one of my cats to join in on the fun.
My #NewYearWhoDis stack for January (and the rest of the year). Starting with the tagged book first.
2021 … favorite books of the year.
Where there is a book from a series, I enjoyed the series. ❤️
This year‘s resolution is to read less books.
Happy New Year! 🤗
#GoodReadsChallenge … the audiobook of Project Hail Mary is my favorite book of the year. Great entertainment! 🙌
Yay! 🎉 I hit my goal of reading 100 books this year!!! 🍾🥳📖🖤
After reviewing all I‘ve read, I‘ve listed my favorites. I found some great books and new favorite authors. I doubt I‘m going to read as many books next year, but I‘m happy to say I at least did it this year!
My goals for next year are 52 novels, 52 short stories, and 52 graphic novels. Wish me luck!
This was a great escape book. I loved The Martian and enjoyed this book just as much.
This was a whole lotta fun. I haven‘t read The Martian but judging by the film I‘d say this is a similar ratio of adventure to science to humour. I won‘t say any more than that because the few surprises are a big part of the enjoyment of this book.
Second photo - light fixture at a restaurant we went to for a Christmas work dinner. So Amazing to be in a restaurant again after 4 months of lockdown. A joyous night 💕
I've been so absent from Litsy lately and it makes me sad. The book judging committee I'm on is kicking my butt, and it's only going to get harder over the holidays (I planned a two and a half week trip 🤦🏻). But I'm happy to have a little moment to check in with y'all. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday and winter season!
If you enjoyed The Martian, you‘ll like this. Like The Martian, it‘s humorous with a moderate dose of science (which I will only assume is accurate lol). Rocky stole my heart.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🤩 This is a serious contender for favorite book, and not just of 2021! I loved the plot, the science, and OMG, the humor! Can‘t wait for the next Andy Weir!
The weather is warm (for December) and blustery!

I have a theatre friend with whom I share a reading Venn diagram, & our overlap is science fiction. At a rehearsal last week, he plopped down next to me & said "please tell me you've read Project Hail Mary, because I HAVE to discuss it with someone." 5 minutes later, it was purchased from Audible. I don't always have good luck with fiction on audio but WOW. Ray Porter's performance was fantastic, & I will be reading more Weir.
⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ohhh what an interesting list of books @shadowspeak17 I‘ve already read a couple but I think I‘ll start with these three! 😁 📚 👍 #newyearwhodis #nywd2021
Just got my #NewYearWhoDis list from @TheSpineView, and I think these 4 are the ones I'm most excited about! About to make some shelves on Libby and Scribd so I can start figuring out which books I have access to and want to read first. Also excited for a fun bonus rec from @monalyisha for Here For It: Or, How to Save Your Soul in America which I'm also going to add to my #NYWD22 shelves!
I was able to read most of this book on my plane rides to and from Santa Fe and then finished it up last night. I liked it very much. You get to discover with the main character what's happening because he wakes up with amnesia at the very beginning of the book. You get flashbacks as he remembers things. Interesting science concepts. I adore Rocky. #botm

Loved it! 💚
This book was engrossing from beginning to end. The science made my inner nerd so happy while reading, the sci-fi made my inner child soar through space, and Andy Weir's writing pulled me into the story and made me fall in love with his characters.
I can't wait for his next book.
It felt good to finally have time to stop in at my local library again. 💚💚💚
“I don‘t have time for this. I have an alien thingy to catch.”
I haven't listened to an audiobook in a while. I decided to start this one on our walk this evening.🐕 #audiowalk
Reading on the couch with one of my orange ladies
I can say without reservation that this is the best book I've read this year. It was far beyond my expectations. The friendship that develops between the two MCs is the highlight of the book. Perseverance. The will to survive. The beauty of self sacrifice for others. All this and more propel this story. I had a hard time putting it down. All the hype is true. This is a must read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am a science geek and I love space sci-if books…so this was a winner. Even my husband liked it and he is not a big reader. Autumn is almost here so I am enjoying the last of our flowers before snow comes.
Let's see what all rage is about. Next up!!!
Definitely my favorite audiobook ever! This was truly a joy to listen to. The story was perfect for audiobook. Highly recommend!
Weir picked a specific narrative trope that really drove the book, and while I understand why he did it based on events in the plot, I'm still not sure it was the best way to tell the story. Another snarky smart protagonist might make people say Weir is a one-trick pony, but I think he is trying to do something distinct with each book, and they do make for compelling reads.
Just finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
When our sun & other local stars begin to dim, an astronaut is sent to another, unaffected star system to find a solution. Upon arrival, he makes first contact with an alien there for the same reason. Together, they hope to find a cure & save their planets.
This incredible story is a fabulous take on First Contact. An emotional, hilarious, spectacular adventure that I wish didn‘t end🚀✨
#ShortReview
This was so much fun! I stayed up late Monday night to finish it (was glad I had this whole week off to recover 🤣). Similar to The Martian in terms of protagonist and vibe, but different plot. Loved both!
