And No Birds Sang | Farley Mowat
post image

This is book about Farley Mowat‘s own experiences in the military during WWII. He describes what the battles that he had been in were like, life during training, and what it took to join the military in the first place. He also explores soldiers feelings towards war before and after seeing action and how much it changes. If you like descriptive history books about war and the people that were apart of it, this is a good book for you.

Joey.Gayowski As the book is a personal memoir about Farley Mowat‘s life, Mowat writes it in First Person Point of View. He explains his own feelings through the book and only ever describes others feelings when he is imagining what they are going through. He also uses pronouns like “I” and “we.” 2y

This book is detailed personal memoir written by Farley Mowat that goes in depth on his journey getting into the military, what life was like being a soldier and eventually the experiences he had in action, A main theme in this book is how how often war is glorified as a patriotic, and heroic charge into battle for your country,(which the soldiers themselves believe at first) until you really understand what soldiers have gone through.

Joey.Gayowski If you like books about history and/or war, that use descriptive imagery and really makes you feel like you are there, then this is a book for you. 2y
