Thrilled to see my debut listed here, hope latest, LIBERTY & MEANS, will follow.

Bricking It | Nick Spalding
Pickpick

Love Spalding's way with phrasing. Hilarious and had me laughing out loud. His style reminds me of Peter Mayle--light and humorous, focusing on character quirks. Bathroom and bedroom humor teetered on overkill, as well as the cow mooing. End too tidy and "boy to the rescue". Overall, enjoyable.

The Last Anniversary | Liane Moriarty
Pickpick

A mystery with loads of family drama, a complicated tapestry of the mundane and absurd, the creepy and sad. The characters, although hard to keep track of at times, are well-rounded and flawed, some unlikable, pathetic, tragic. Guessed at the Munro mystery pretty early on, yet stayed engaged.

Engrossed and loving the complexity of the characters, making time for this book

The Red Notebook | Antoine Laurain
Pickpick

This story had me hooked at the beginning; I liked the style, premise and characters. I did think it ran out of fizz towards the last quarter of the book and my interest waned a bit, but enjoyed it for the most part and will read Laurain again.
