“ If there‘s one thing living with an abusive psychopath has taught me, it‘s how to make the best of a bad situation.”

“When you discover you are married to a sociopath, you have to become more resourceful.”........
“I had adjusted to a life where subterfuge and deceit were as natural as breathing.”
I had mixed feelings about this book. I wanted him to do the right thing but, if you have studied narcissism at all, he was the definition. It was easy reading - going between her present day several years later and her youth and her relationship with the worlds most famous lover.
I‘m suppose to feel like I have no choice. Like I‘m alone, and I‘m not strong enough to do this on my own.
But they‘re wrong. I do have a choice.
And when it comes to my kids, I‘m stronger than they think.
Wow.... another piece of history that I had no idea about. This story about siblings basically stolen and then “adopted” out by the Tennessee Children‘s Home Society was captivating from the beginning. These “river rats” were taken and adopted into high society.
This country was like an elaborate magic show, a grand illusion, a game of three card Monty, and a Hogwarts for con artists. And I thought the Afghanis were slippery.
This book immediately took my attention and held it to the very end. It was thought-provoking and emotionally charged. How well do we really know the people in our lives? We lose ourselves at times and it is truly a wonderful time you find yourself again. And those who truly love you are so happy to have you back. By far the best book I‘ve read for a long long time!
