Tiny Creatures: The World of Microbes by Nicola Dacies was so fascinating to read. In this book you find out how the smallest things on the planet do some of the biggest jobs. These are called Microbes. They're busy doing all sorts of things, from giving you a cold and making yogurt to eroding mountains and helping to make the air we breathe. They are in the ocean, in the soil, in the air, and in our bodies. Very factual intriguing book for kids!

Pickpick

Coral Reefs by Jason Chin was an interesting read. During an ordinary visit to the library, a girl pulls a not-so-ordinary book from the shelves. As she turns the pages in this book about coral reefs, the city around her slips away and she finds herself surrounded by the coral cities of the sea and the plants and animals that live, hunt, and hide there. This book is intriguing because it is not so ordinary. I think children would love this!

It was In 1843, about a 14 year old boy, Hanson Gregory who left his family home in Rockport, Maine, and set sail as a cabin boy on the schooner Achorn, looking for adventure on the high seas. A boatload of hungry sailors, coupled with him helped to creative problem solve. This lead to the doughnut. It was a sweet, fact-filled story.

Her right foot by Dave Eggers was a fabulous read! It is a factual book about the Statue of Liberty. She's in New York. She's holding a torch. And she's in mid-stride, moving forward. But why? In this fascinating, nonfiction, the author investigates a small trait of America's most famous statue. What they find in the Statue of Liberty's right foot is the message of acceptance that is essential to an entire country's creation. Very interesting.

Bloom: A Story of Fashion Designer Elsa Schiaparelli by Kyo Maclear was adorable! It was about a girl named Elsa. By the 1930s Elsa Schiaparelli had captivated the fashion world in Paris, but before that, she was a little girl in Rome who didn‘t feel pretty at all. Bloom is the enchanting story for young readers of how a young girl used her imagination and emerged from plain to extraordinary. Amazing and inspiring to read. Really motivates you.

The Elephant by Jenni Desmond was such an amazing book. The book is about one of the large, endangered animals of Earth, as we join a young boy as he learns about The Elephant. Elephants are from Africa to Asia and they are light on their feet, despite their great weight. They are graceful because they‘re always walking on their tip-toes. They have great hearing and detect other elephants from 6 miles away. Great book to learn about elephants.

Tiny Stitches by Gwendolyn Hooks was amazing! Vivien Thomas's greatest dream was to attend college to study medicine. He heard about a job opening at the Vanderbilt University medical school. Vivien knew that the all-white school would never admit him as a student, but he hoped working there meant he was getting closer to his dream. Overcoming racism and resistance from his colleagues, he became a heart surgeon. Amazing story!

Duke Ellington by Andrea David Pinkney was phenomenal! It was about a man's name who was Duke. As a child, he said piano made an umpy-dump sound that was headed nowhere worth following. But, years later, he heard the piano played a whole new way. People called the music “ragtime“, and soon the sound had Duke's fingers riding the piano keys. This is the story of one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century, the king of the keys. Amazing!

It was a way for her to stand up for what she believed in and to let the world know she is proud of who she was and where she came from. Such a cute read. I loved it!
