A Complicated Kindness | Miriam Toews
Pickpick

Very difficult subject matter, but timely topic. Suicide. On a deeper level, how much would you do for your sibling you love? What makes a satisfactory life? Where do you find enjoyment? Characters strongly portrayed.

Keatsknitter I made a grave mistake...my review was for Toews novel, All My Puny Sorrows. My apologies. 8y

Infidel | Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Pickpick

This amazing book peels back the experiences of a desperate refugee. The author grew up in Somalia, a specific culture. This author has a strong bias against the Muslim faith, due to the oppression, the misogyny in her extended family. Being a refugee in Europe is the2nd part. Worth getting there.

Spiderfelt While difficult to read, I think this was an important book for the sake of cultural sensitivity. There is so much we don't understand about Islam. It was interesting to see how cultures varied in the various countries her family lived. 8y

This book gives such an intimate insight to the personal experience of a young person dealing with aggressive cancer. I felt I was by his side dealing with his diagnosis. It was most impressive to be seeing the medical side of him and then seeing the personal- patient side of him.

Spiderfelt I've heard so much about his book. Can't wait to dive in. 8y
