“This woman was made of boot polish, and pipe smoke, clean cloth and north wind.”

“It‘s much easier to let two experts butt heads, and leave it to the jury to decide which one they believe.” —- Wow - seriously one of the most 👀-opening books I have read in a long time.
“In exchange, she will receive prosperity, a long life, and, presumably, a steady supply of red-hot devil dick.” Pg 81 😂
“I stood looking down toward the city and imagined myself, acclaimed yet charming, almost heroically, humble.” 🙄-
For me- this book focused way more on the very juvenile-like romantic relationships than on “mystery.” These were supposedly professional adults - who constantly commented on each other crushes, and who like who, and who has nice legs -instead of the supposedly career-changing project they were working on. The subject matter had potential, and anytime the author did focus on the actual mystery I was I intrigued, but it just wasn‘t enough.
"I'm afraid that if I bring her up, if I talk about her, she'll have all the power, he'll love her more than me." Pg. 62
"Sometimes I feel like a grain of magnetic dust being dragged by an overgrown pointer." Pg. 3
I need people to stop saying they didn't like the book, simply because they judge Dunham on the fact she grew up a privileged girl. She completely acknowledges that is part of who she is already. Memoirs are all about finding out more about a person's life from that person's own perspective. Yes, money was never a problem for her, but that doesn't mean she had a life devoid of other demons. If there's one thing this book is - it's honest.
"Come to my party! We can't talk or make noise because my neighbor is dying, but I spent a ton of money on salami."
Just some easy bedtime reading...
"I wanted a way out of this tiny life. Single-serving butter and cramped airline seat role in the world." Page 173
