I am loving this book! I think Semple has a great voice. Like an honest but hilarious but smart friend. Biding my time until I can read more.

Like a book version of Before Sunrise...beautiful prose discussing how we see ourselves in the world. So many long passages that I had to reread because they were so densely packed with messages seemingly directly addressed to me. I get my books from the library and only buy those with significant meaning. This one is being purchased and added to the library.
Whoa. And I mean whoa. I don't think this is a great book if you are pregnant. But for those of us who have gone through it and are done or are choosing not to go there, give it a go. This was all it was hyped up to be and more. I LOVED how the two women's stories bumped up to each other. I could go on but my greatest endorsement is this: it's been months since I've read the book and can recall the plot, the characters, and all the feels.
Hi friends! Off to Dublin in a few days and I'd love some recommendations of Irish books to read. And I know this is profane, but no James Joyce please. It's a vacation and that dude is some heavy lifting. I'm looking for the fun stuff. Thanks in advance!
TBR stack ALL inspired by you fine new friends at Litsy. Started Eleven Hours this morning and wow. Wowowow
I watched a bit of the film while reading this and it put me off the book for a while. The movie was so misogynist whereas the book, while uncomfortably detailed in the female characters' beauty or lack of, developed said characters beyond their role in the male character's life. Lovely book.
Loved it! So beautifully written with great character development and some empathetic insight into human nature. I enjoyed the style too, with each chapter told from a different character's POV.
"Merely difficult without the benefit of genius"
Just started this and am halfway through. This book is giving me chills.
That moment when you start in on a book by an author you haven't read yet and realize you are in love and there are so many more books to read
