An excellent book for my Trump loving father as a counterpoint to his belief that Europe is cheaping out in defense spending and Trump is making America look good globally. Seems well sourced and quick reading.

Leadership: In Turbulent Times | Doris Kearns Goodwin
Pickpick

I knew LBJ knew his way around Congress, but I never appreciated the why of it until reading this book. The author does an excellent job finding commonalities across generations and situations, and I came away feeling like the book spoke directly to the steaming pile of poop that is 2018.

The first half of the book, I was surprised and interested. Maybe I shouldn‘t have been, since the essential conclusion is “humans are more selfish than you think, and prioritize sex and prestige”, but the writing kept the information feeling fresh and relevant, and the authors had a self effacing narrative that hit the right notes. But the chapters started feeling a bit repetitive and so I skipped to the end.
