A very tough read, emotionaly, but worth it. Shriver has taken a lot of critisism for her female characters, but it is undeserved. The mother is flawed, but very real. The twist at the end is not expected, but not contrived.

Started as a required book all too many years ago, but turned in to a lifetime love.
