Oliver Goldsmith has been one of my favourite. I'm currently reading The Vicar of Wakefield in my kindle. The language of the book is very smooth and one could taste the spirit of old English.
In my opinion this is the most gripping book I have come across lately. Rebecca's character never appears in the book , she is referred in the past by the protagonist.
