I made the dreadful mistake of looking at the reviews of this book halfway through reading it.....it's like marmite, people seems to either love it or hate it. I loved it and couldn't put it down. It tells the story of an American intelligence officer who basically has to save the world (America) from a biological terrorist attack. If you ignore the mildly anti-Islamic/America is great parts then it's a rip roaring ride.

I really got carried away into Victorian London/south east England with this book. It's a love story with a touch of gothic spookiness. The characters and the setting were fabulous.
