I really enjoyed this book, it‘s almost like traveling around the world. I really enjoyed how the author not only talked about particular languages but also touched on histories of certain areas, their cultures and so on. He did a great job keeping each chapter different and unique. Each chapter made me want to learn a different language and travel to that country.

By the time I was halfway through this book I had already decided that this was one of my favorite books of all time. The world building was great, it kept me in constant suspense, I loved how the stories were independent yet connected to each other. It was almost as if each character‘s story was a different genre. It‘s a great sci-fi, it has action, romance, mystery and everything in between. Cannot recommend enough.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Yes! Probably in my Top 10 - 15 of All Time. All 4 books in the Hyperion Cantos are amazing. 4y

I liked it overall, however it felt like the story was just kind of going in random directions at certain points. The backstory and world building was great though. The main character Swan, was very unlikeable in my opinion, but I enjoyed most of the other characters.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Agreed, the story was secondary to the world-building. 4y

I enjoyed it, the translation was fairly easy to read and was an incredibly interesting story. I would definitely read it again.
