A slog. Tapper's prose is somewhat amateurish. Clever trope of presenting how the politics of the 50s and at least one of the real life characters resonate today. The intrigue is completely over the top and borderline silly.

A wonderful read. Sat up on a cross-country flight and read it the whole way. I even tweeted with the author about a minor plot point and got a wry response.
Woohoo! This just arrived from Jolly Old England! I prefer to read his books before the US editors get ahold of them and tweak the vernacular.
Currently enjoying this. They had me with the dogs on the cover, but I had forgotten Irving's penchant for interjecting the fantastic into the seemingly mundane and showing us the jewels amid the squalor.
