I really loved the writing style and how the author revealed the mystery of what had happened to the main character. I connected so much with the MC, especially when she was dealing with Heather. God, I think we all have these type of 'friends' at one point in our lives. I absolutely loved her interactions with David. And the ending was just chef kiss, gave me goosebumps. Loved this book a lot.

The Great Gatsby | F Scott Fitzgerald
Pickpick

Fitzgerald's writing is just magical. I will freely admit that I'm a prose snob and this book totally satisfied that need in me. I loved the plot, the setting, the very vibe of the book. The characters were beautifully written, their virtues and flaws so well sketched out. They felt real, even though they were so far removed from my reality. I loved the ending so damn much.

Oh god this book 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have so many problems with this book that I don't know where to begin. The message that if you're depressed, just think it away drove me up the walls. The writing was just so bad. The book didn't feel edited at all. The characters weren't developed. The ending was predictable. The dialogue was atrocious. The concept was interesting but I felt it was just wasted on this book. If you want my opinion, give it a skip.

Redhead_reads I could not understand all the hype for this one. I thought it was lacking in all aspects. 3y
aryapdane @Redhead_reads I swear! You'd think it's the best book ever written from the way some people go on about it. 3y

Theirs is undoubtedly the greatest love story of our time. I'm so obsessed with the two of them, its scary. All I have done this week is watch their movies. If you're interested in reading about Hollywood, and a love so furious, it burns, this book is for you.

Ariadne | Jennifer Saint
Mehso-so

I'm conflicted about this book. It's well written but I couldn't connect with the eponymous Ariadne at all. She is such a passive character. Her sister Phaedra is more interesting. The retelling follows the original myths too closely which is complete fine I suppose. But it was in no way a feminist retelling like it was advertised. People who know nothing of the original myths and those who love the original myths will definitely like it.

Recently I found out that Taylor Swift has recommended this book. Now I'm a simple girl. I see Taylor recommending something, I add it to my TBR

Witches Steeped in Gold | Ciannon Smart

It hurts me to say how disappointed I am with this book because this could have been epic. It had all elements. Powerful lore. Jamaican inspired setting. Powerful witches. Political intrigue. And it pains me to say that everything was so underwhelming. I couldn't connect to the characters, the foreign words thrown about only confused me, the magic system was so random. I'm not looking forward to the sequel nor am I recommending it to anyone.

Secret History | Donna Tartt
Pickpick

I cannot recommend this book enough. I loved reading it. The plot was engaging and I was fascinated with Tartt's version of college life. My own was incredibly tedious. If you are a dark academic with a love for reading about pretentious, young people drinking, smoking and occasionally planning murders then this book is for you.

Omg what was this book?! I finished it in one sitting and my legs hate me now but who needs to walk anyway? 🙄 Fantastic magic system, compelling characters, a murder mystery. It's Silence of the Lambs meets Mistborn as the author describes it. Do I need to say more? Read it now! Like right now.

It's a Gothic Fantasy Romance with an indecisive heroine who will make you roll your eyes so much, you won't be able to see straight. The prose borders on being purple. The love interest, Hal Cavendish is the only saving grace. Actually, he's the most enjoyable part of the book. The pacing is slow. Wouldn't say it was the most enjoyable read but it wasn't terrible either

The Blade Itself | Joe Abercrombie

How could I have gone so long without reading this book? It has everything that I enjoy in a book. Brilliant prose and well crafted characters. Say one thing for Abercrombie, say he knows how to write characters. He's so brilliant in fact that I didn't even notice there was no plot in The Blade Itself. Sand dan Glokta is the reason I couldn't put down this book and I can't rest until I've read the second book. And everything he has ever written.

I've never really been a fantasy person but this book has been given to me as a challenge. Hopefully this'll be fun ✌🏼😅

A story about idiots told with so much brilliance. I laughed and cried at the same time
