When I borrowed Silver Silence from my local library back in September, I had no idea it would send me on an 18 book (and countless novella and short story) binge, introducing me to what has fast become my favorite books series of all time. This morning I finished Allegiance of Honor, the final book I hadn't read, and I can't believe there isn't any more of the Psy-Changeling series for me to read until next June. What will do with myself?!

Michollio You could try her Guild Hunter series 😊 3d

Her Naughty Holiday | Tiffany Reisz

This is the second holiday-focused novel in the Men At Work series (the first, Her Halloween Treat, was delightful!) and it's all about how the heroine asks an acquaintance of hers to pretend to be her boyfriend at Thanksgiving. Now, I love some good fake dating, and I love the immediate banter that the main characters settle into. Can't wait to watch this one unfold!

While waiting for the next book in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series to arrive on my front step, I decided to try out the first of Anne Bishop's The Others books and I loved it! It's the Urban Fantasy epitome of "place slowly becomes home, people (or Others, in this case) slowly become family," which is one of my favorite tropes. I've already ordered the sequel!

I. Love. This. Series. Wolf Rain is another of Nalini Singh's stellar romances backed by an amazing depth of world-building. I've already gotten a couple of the earlier Psy-Changeling books from the library, and I just bought the first in the series because clearly I'm going to have to read all of these. I can't wait!

Done with the second Psy-Changeling Trinity book and I loved it just as much as the first! And I've already ordered the third because I decided that I just can't wait until my next trip to the library. I'm so glad I finally got around to reading Nalini Singh, and I look forward to enjoying many more of her books.

My first Nalini Singh book ever and I could not be more blown away by the depth she packed into this novel. The worldbuilding alone! I'm jumping into the next book in the trilogy right away, and I'm definitely going to add her other books—especially the rest of the Psy-Changeling series—to my TBR.

Michollio I love her books. I'm rereading the Psy-Changeling series right now. I haven't gotten to these ones yet, but I'll get there eventually 😀. The Guild Hunter series is great as well. 2mo
bunny @Michollio I want to try that series too! She's got a lot of backlist to work through and I'm looking forward to it. Good luck with your reread! 😀 2mo

I've been wanting to reread this favorite for a while, so I finally just went ahead and did it. And I'm very glad I did!

This is a 1920s m/m paranormal romance, laced with a supernatural mystery. It's also about the main characters finding courage, hope, self-worth, and companionship again after going through hellish experiences in WWI.

Sadly, the sequel has been delayed (perhaps indefinitely?) but I live in hope it will eventually be released!

I've read a little Ilona Andrews, but not any of the Kate Daniels (or Kate Daniels adjacent) books before. So I got this from the library, because why not dive right in mid-series?

Despite not knowing the backstory between Andrea & Raphael, I enjoyed the heck out of this book. And I actually found myself really liking the world, so I'll most likely try one of the books with Kate. I kinda wish there was more books narrated by Andrea too, though!

Finished this book with my coffee this morning. I don't listen to the Sawbones podcast (though I do follow MBMBaM) but I still enjoyed the informal style they used for presenting the material. There were a couple formatting issues, as well as some typos here and there, but overall it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the book. I'd recommend this book to anyone vaguely interested in weird medical history, as long as they don't get grossed out easily.

thereadingowlvina I enjoyed this book too! Their podcast is hilarious though I find Justin can be a little annoying at times! 🤣 5mo

From the third volume in the Wayward Children series, which I just finished tonight. The book definitely isn't a standalone, since you need at least Every Heart a Doorway to make sense of it, but it makes a good addition to the ongoing series.

A fun #romantsy read about an elementary school teacher who falls for her stripper neighbor after accidentally bringing home his bag from the laundry. There hasn't been a single entry in Alyssa Cole's Reluctant Royals series that I haven't loved, and this novella is no exception. Cole has this way of writing with authenticity that seems effortless, but there's no mistaking how much care she puts into her work.

This novella ties into the series in ways that will make more sense to someone who has read the books (particularly A Duke By Default), so I'd encourage new readers to start there first.

All her life, Milla has been raised under the constant threat of demons by parents who barely seem to love her. Things brighten when Iris comes to live on the neighboring farm, but Milla soon learns there's much more going on than she knows. A story about vengeance, fear, legacies, & love that's inspired by (but not a direct retelling of) the myth of Medusa. This book could've stood a little fleshing out in places, but I enjoyed it all the same!

If, like me, all steampunk is starting to feel a little same-y to you, I'd recommend giving Gunpowder Alchemy a shot. It's set in China, and centers on themes of family, loyalty, Imperialism, and tradition vs innovation. There's adventure, peril, and a hint of romance (but not Romance, if you catch my drift) that takes second place to the action in the story. I've already bought the sequel and I'm looking forward to having the chance to read it.

1. Still slogging through the same books I've been reading all month! But I'm SO CLOSE to being done with Stamped from the Beginning & I hope to reach the end this week.

2. Most of my reading (easily 75% or more) is done through ebooks, but I do love holding a physical book in my hands. Paperbacks are probably my fave.

3. Paradise Lost. I don't think I read a word of it, in fact! No idea how I passed that part of class.

A Kiss for Midwinter | Courtney Milan
post image

Jonas, the hero in this romance novella, isn't exactly a #grinch, but he is jaded, sarcastic, and not overly fond of Christmas. The heroine, Lydia, is his opposite. The story centers around a wager about whether her cheerful nature can withstand his doctor's rounds, with a kiss as the prize. As with many of her tales, Milan fills this romance with emotional depth and that makes this more than just a simple Christmas-themed story. #SeasonsReadings
