A fun, spooky read! Fast paced, mysterious, and the type of book where the reader knows something is Not Right before the protagonist catches on. 👻🏚️

One of the first horror authors I got into was James Herbert, and I loved Haunted and The Ghosts of Sleath! When the third in the trilogy came out I bought it but I still haven‘t read it 😳

Anyway! This one is about ghosts.
David Ash (who the trilogy follows) doesn‘t believe in ghosts, but then he investigates a haunting that may make him question whether the supernatural is real.

This is a classic James Herbert ghost story, and it was so nice to pick up one of his books again. Set in an old house, believed to be haunted, David Ash, a psychic investigator, sets out to prove that the noises heard are merely the sounds of an old building. Creepy, and unsettling, this story proves to be quite unique, and definitely took me out of my comfort zone.

I enjoyed it very much. David Ash is a fab hero!

This had an interesting premise and the story had me intrigued but the ending let it down a little. I wanted more of a showdown and dramatic finish if I'm honest. I also wanted him and Edith to find each other at the end. I found David a good lead, he's got many flaws and yet you warm to him especially as we learn his story. A creepy read ideal for this time of year. 3*

David Ash is a sceptic and renowned supernatural debunker, investigating a haunted house over 3 nights. On arrival he thinks it will be a normal assignment. He isn't prepared to find that the house truly is haunted... 👻
