🧿Work is love made visible - Khalil Gibran🧿 🌷Of course, I love reading, but I also love writing—specifically poetry!🌷

📕I read this book for a class and had a completely different idea going into it. It was a fascinating read and left me quite uncomfortable (which is the point!). I just don't know if any of the portrayals of the Sudanese people could be damaging. Of course, it is strategic, but anyone has access to read this book and have opinions based on the portrayal. I still don't know how to feel about this book, but it was wonderfully written! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

This poetry collection is Fady Joudah's first, which won the 2007 Yale Series of Younger Poets competition. Louise Glück chose his collection and also wrote the forward of this book. Joudah transports you to another world with this collection, and I could not put it down. Amazing work by an Arab author! 📚 🌱

📕 Interestingly, little is known about the author, Walter D. Wintle's, life. It is unknown which version of this poem is the original version. 📕

Morning Sea | Margaret Mazzantini

Panpan

Quite an interesting book following the Mediterranean migrant crisis from colonialism to the present day. I read the English translation and the writing tended to be flowery when speaking on horrible circumstances. The book has numerous instances of Orientalist imagery too.

You could read novels written by survivors of the migrant crisis for a better picture. However, Mazzantini has an authorial right to be able to write this novel.

Pickpick

📙Reading The Secret History transported me into another world, an alternative world of college students. This book definitely takes you on a journey of all possible human capabilities, even those that are evil! A must-read! It really takes you out of your mind.

⭐4.75/5
