Finished The Shining. Loved the book, don't love the cover. Covers/editions like these get the "tie-in" tag in my (LibraryThing) catalog. ?
Finished 'Salem's Lot today! Somewhat annoyed that there's still 150 pages of extra content left. Last night I stopped reading thinking there was still a bunch left to happen, while I was actually only a handful of pages from the end. I feel it's important to know when the end of a novel is coming, it helps with the comedown and managing expectations and the dwindling number of remaining pages would usually help to anchor your reading. #losersclub
Part of me expected Stephen King's first novel to be somewhat of a raw gem, showing the promise of his career-to-be, but still being a bit rough around the edges. What I got instead was a terrific novel that already had all the elements that make his books so great. It's as if his writing style has crystallised fully formed all those years back now. And there's still so much to come! #losersclub
A semi-public commitment to continue reading in this book borrowed from a friend...
