I imagined the characters looking a lot different than the actual movie cast. Am I the only one who imagined Lena as a WOC?

So far I'm liking this book! Too scared of what might happen to read it at night though. 😷 Book 1 of my spooky October reading challenge!

I read How It Went Down for my school's book club this month. This book was a tear-jerker on every page. Getting to know the characters inside and out was enjoyable and it really spoke to modern-day urban life and politics. It had the innocence of children and the wisdom of elders and everything in between while still retaining a realistic vibe. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to high schoolers and young adults.
