Mehso-so

I always want the "girl-dresses-as-boy" trope to bring something new to the table--to say something interesting and different about gender, about sexual orientations, about assumptions and desire. This book did not do any of that, and was therefore not my cup of tea.

readergeek Can we like it for the sharp and stabby on the cover though because I do. 8y
jaidajones @readergeek the cover IS lovely! The intense heteronormativity less so--at least, for my palate! 8y
readergeek I am with you a hundred percent on that. 8y

Pickpick

I do appreciate the acknowledgement of bisexuality as a thing that exists! Riordan is a master of plotting, and I adored this first in the series as a promising start to a fun romp through the teenage humiliation of one of my favorite Greek gods.

Now and then a book comes along that is so good, it hurts you. You become a spiderweb of longing and despair. That is this book.
