This small collection of poetry will hit you right in the feels. Domestic abuse is absolute shit, and Sierra DeMulder writes about her haunting and tragic experience in a beautiful way. Can't wait to read more of her work. Bought this at the Twin Cities Book Festival from Button Poetry.

Asked my dad to "judge a book by its cover" and help me pick my next read...

Dad: "We Slept Here looks short and boring."
Me: "It's poetry! Of course its short."
Dad: "Oh! Well, anyway... Story of My Teeth just sounds like weird shit." Pause. "The Fire This Time... A New Generation Speaks about Race. That sounds intense so you need to read that earlier on."

I enjoyed the characterizations and how storylines were woven throughout, but much of the plot fell flat for me. It's worth reading and deciding for yourself, especially if you like multi-character focus. Regardless, I'm team Bea.
