This was fun! It didn't blow my socks off or anything, but it was everything I wanted it to be. Very straight forward plot and predictable characters, but still a fun jaunt into the Wild West. Don't recommend the audiobook though, I switched to print halfway through and that made all the difference in my enjoyment. Check my Goodreads for more details on that.

Pretty good! Its only negative is that it's kind of boring, tbh. I picked it up now because of the lower page count and it still ended up taking me 5 days to finish, which is 3 more than it should have. But everything else is really good, and now that it's over I'm glad I got through it. This story will stick with me, and I always admire Schwab's writing skills. 3.75 ⭐️

Currently reading In A Perfect World, figuring a contemporary after all the fantasy lately would be a good change of pace. I've studied Islamic and Egyptian art recently in my Art History course so it's fun to read about a modern Egyptian setting with references to the culture, architecture, and historical sites. Page 81 and it's exactly what I thought it would be so far. Really enjoying it.

The cutest love story ever written, made even sweeter by the fact that the author's husband illustrated it. ❤️🦋🦋🍰 #lainitaylor #daughterofsmokeandbone #dosab

MelissaJCrispin I loved this series. Been meaning to check this out. The illustrations look amazing! 6y
OceanCityMama I read it originally as an audiobook, which is great because I love the narrator for the series so much. I was really happy they released this new edition. I checked it out from the library just so I could see the illustrations and it didn't disappoint! ❤️ If you can I recommend you do both, it's immersive and wonderful. 6y

I was entranced by the audiobook for The Last Namsara! The narration is on another level. Just- wow. The story is perfect for listening to, as it is about storytelling. In this world, Storytellers are dangerous, and the practice is wicked. Asha has been living with the consequences of this since she was little, but now she's of age and everything is changing. I related to Asha, her character is beautifully written. Also, dragons! Great book. 🌟

I can't rave about this book enough, it is the perfect fantasy romance about a super cool magical world of sentient storms and political intrigue. Loosely described as a Sleeping Beauty retelling, Aurora is wide awake but her magic ability is asleep, and she must go on a journey to discover more about her world if she is to save her kingdom from corruption. This book fills my ACOMAF and Kricket series void and I am so happy I picked it up!

Bookcation74 This has been sitting in my bookcase for too long! Must get to it! 6y

This book is great, such a perfect conclusion. I liked the first book ok but now with the two combined I can say that I really enjoyed this series, as a whole. The characters are still stronger than the world building but at least the characters are awesome enough to carry everything through. The story arc is brave and I love that it goes to all the places it does, V.S. is a boss as well as a talented storyteller ❤️💙

SassenachTheBookWizard I loved book one for the lack of romance. Does this book also go like that? 7y
OceanCityMama @SassenachTheBookWizard Nope! Totally gets kissy at one point. That's part of what I found so brave though; when your series is being so hyped for not having romance it takes a lot of conviction to turn around and follow through with a romance in book two! Especially because it's a small moment and could have been skipped if she'd really wanted to. But I liked how it ramped up the final scenes, emotionally. Tastefully done. 7y

I just love Renee Ahdieh's writing. She has a flare for evoking the senses to create a real time and place, makes it easy to become immersed. Her characters are incredible, such strong development across the board. The end of this book is bananas and I'm so excited for the next one in the series. I was put off by the slow building plot. There's a lot of setup and tons of internal dialogue, it really held this book back for me, so sad. Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️What a beautiful story. The pain and healing from grief isn't my usual idea of a good time but I'm so glad I picked this one up. It's been a long while since I've read something that captures that magical combo of authenticity and poignancy the way that this book does. This was quite juvenile, not what I was expecting based on the reviews I had heard. I should have checked with Litsy first, lol. If I had never read fantasy before I might have been more impressed. I did like the magic and the world, most of my enjoyment came from those areas. But the writing was iffy and the characters are just bad. I won't continue in this series. #LitsyAtoZ

I found myself in need of an audiobook for some work driving the other day, so grabbed this one on a whim. I was in the car for 3 hours, yet I've finished this 12 hr book in two days! Couldn't stay away once I started. I have a lot of anxiety and do a lot of nerding out (shocking, I know) so Cath was a highly relatable character. If all boys could be Levi the world would be an awesome place. I loved this book, and the narrator was perfection!

I'm so sad. Passenger was an unexpected delight and Wayfarer was an unexpected disappointment. I could absolutely see the author's struggle to bring this story to a close. There were really well written key moments that shone and you just know those were the only parts that the author had confidence in. The rest is long-winded filler. I experienced minimal enjoyment in reading this and a lot of agony. I wanted to love it so much! #unpopularopinion

This was just the book I needed to kick my reading back into gear. It reads so fast! You just dive in and let the plot carry you along. There's suspense and a lot of action. There's new elements that are dropped into the series, but in very small, easy to digest pieces that won't take you out of the familiar flow. It's emotional and dramatic, and the ending- I'm just happy I'm reading this with the next book already in my hands! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is a rich and detailed experience unlike anything I've read in a long while. The ambiance is so well crafted you can almost feel it. Every character came alive. Every piece of dialogue just lived in a way that felt authentic and easy. The nuisance of the writing, the plotting, the world building... I'm at a loss to describe it. I've read reviews that complain about it being "too much" but I completely disagree. I loved every detail.

OceanCityMama Also, the narrator, January LaVoy is the best I've ever heard. I know I say that a lot, and there are so very many amazing narrators out there, but I don't know if anyone can top this performance. Flawless. Nuanced. Captivating. Magic. 7y

I adored this fairytale, the telling is clever and sharp and quick. There's twists and nuisances. I could see the things that might come together but I had no idea how or even if they would stay that course. I will only critique that it felt far too long. I really did love the themes and the metaphors about family, perspective, friendship, agency, sorrow, joy, power, history, and morality. A very memorable story. 3.5 ⭐️

valeriegeary It did feel a little long at times-- especially for a kid's book. But I still loved it! 7y

This is some good sci-fi/ adventure. I didn't totally love the interview-style format, I had to suspend disbelief frequently over some personal details these people shared that I did not find to be realistic. Some of the voice acting felt over dramatic but reminded me a lot of the X-Files with all of its clandestine plotting and conspiracies, and I loved that. The ending was like-woah. I will probably pick up the sequel just because of that. 3.5
