Absolutely breathtaking. When I was reading this I fully stopped being aware of everything else around me. Definitely teared up at times.

Wow. This is required reading. Excuse me while I build a bunker to live in because I‘m now very afraid for my life as a woman but no biggie.

This is an excellent example of this style of writing — it just turns out that this style isn‘t to my taste. Despite that, it‘s a fast read, and I was curious enough that I saw it all the way through.

This felt like the adult version of Looking for Alaska by John Green. I loved the writing style and the ideas the author was playing with, but the characters never felt fully fleshed out and Phoebe specifically was a little too “manic pixie dream girl”. Fast read, so I would still recommend it if you‘re interested. But it lacked some things I was looking for.

This is a must read for every person ever. Despite its small size, it takes a while to get through, especially if you take the time (and you should!) to really consider each passage. Without the last chapter that gives strategies for combatting demagoguery, it would be a pretty depressing read but luckily the author provides some answers. And it will fit easily in my fanny pack, so that‘s a plus from me 😊

“I am aware of the likely futility of all that I have told here, and, I am aware, too, of the thousand ways I have tried to excuse myself in the telling of it. All the same, whatever the flaws of this story or confession or whatever has turned out to be, let it stand.”
