Pickpick

When Sumire finally falls in love it's with another woman. Miu is a lot older, married and offers the aspiring writer Sumire a job as her personal secretary. When the two of them go on a business trip turned vacation to europe it turns out that there is more to each of the women than meets the eye.
Told by Sumires friend (who is also not so secretly in love with her) you get a beautiful novel full of secrets, desire and the search for one self.

When I was looking for something fluffy and fun in my tbr I stumbled over Anita Loos' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and it is everything I had hoped for: funny, fast paced, short and full of 1920s magic!

Mehso-so

This book features two of my favourite topics in literature: japanese culture and early film and entertainment business. However it is also written by an author who likes to use eloquent language to tell gross things and detailed bodily functions . By the end I could not tell what the point of it all was suppossed to be.

Kracht walks a thin line between beautiful prose and strange to icky situations, in a way that makes it sometimes hard to tell dream from fictional reality.

Every year, when fall is right around the corner I make lists of all the books I want to read in this season - all the gothic novels, all the eerie and horror stories and everything victorian. I never make it through the list and often enough I don't get around to it at all, but I enjoy the ritual. This book in particular has been on this for a few years and I am just about ready to dive in.

MrBook Great pic and cover! 8y
nemesis @MrBook thank you! I still need to get a bit used to everything around here (especially since the Android app has some hickups) but I like it here 😊 8y
