I have waited for Rotherby‘s story for the better part of a year, and it did not disappoint. I giggled over the homages in here, and I loved the realistic take on several thorny issues, including the ramifications of telling a lie. I definitely need to do a second read, because I did not savor the first enough. I was too busy trying to see what happened next!

I love how there is a #catsoflitsy. I am totally here for this. The jury is out though according to Selina and Whisper. Also, Whisper is a mess.

This is one of those stories that I enjoyed far more on the re-read than I did the first time around. Emma and Ash are both lovely, and Ash‘s wit constantly made me laugh. I love how practical-minded Emma is and loved how she continued to use her seamstress skills throughout the book. Also, Breeches. ❤️❤️❤️ #romantsy

This book is a victim of too many plot threads, then having your lead characters lose every scrap of intelligence to keep them apart. It almost felt like reading about two entirely different people after the midpoint. When this book was good, it was extremely good. But its bad spots? Oh, they're DNF-worthy. I did finish, and I couldn't quite pan it. Basically, stop at the wedding night, then go on to the next one in the TBR pile. #romantsy

Like all of Jess Michaels' books, this was enjoyable with lovely homages to Catwoman. I loved this mature heroine who embraced passion and her actions without remorse. Selina had the biggest story arc, learning to think outside of herself. The big loose end is the object Selina wanted to secure and its owner. I would have liked to seen some resolution to it.

This is one of the rarest things in a Rumiko Takahashi series - a complete, satisfying ending that neatly ties up all the loose threads. It's hard to not smile as you're reading this volume, because everything draws to a fantastic conclusion that shows the depth of the love between Godai and Kyoko. It's a mature relationship now, and it's been a fantastic journey to take with them.

I pick up each new Julia Quinn expecting to feel the magic I did when I first read her a decade ago. Instead, she has become increasingly formulaic. I liked Poppy and Andrew, but I wound up skimming through most of their banter. They made great friends, but I wasn't feeling any sexual chemistry. How consent was utilized was excellent, A+ there. The ending was funny, but then the epilogue was so predictable that I nearly threw my Kindle. #romantsy

This book is from the Faerie Tale Romance series in 1998, and boy it did not age well. It is very much a product of its time in all the problematic areas and um ... interesting names for genitalia. The plot hinges mainly on the heroine pretending she's someone else, assuming that no one can see through her “disguise,“ but really she fools no one.

But, hey, I found $1 tucked inside the book, so I think I still came out ahead.
