This book is more than the words on the pages. There‘s so much more to understand, so much more to learn, and so much more to fall in love with. It‘s ridiculous the hold this book and it‘s characters has on me. George and Lennie will always have such a special place in my heart, their relationship is one in a million. Steinbeck was an incredible author, and I might even go as far as to say that he is my ‘favourite‘ author.

Life decays and reeks and returns to the rotted duff; a poignant wallow of death begetting life.

It‘s been ages since I‘ve posted anything, but it‘s been hard to find the time to read, let alone post. BUT Christmas break came along and so did time!! Coming to the actual book, I absolutely loved it, I adored it, I thought it was brilliant.

We read Albom‘s “The Time Keeper” for my English class and it was fantastic. Looking for more books like that, I came across this one and I was not disappointed. I won‘t say too much, but this gets 5⭐️!

Never underestimate the big importance of small things.

You can choose choices but not outcomes.

“Want,” she told her, in a measured tone, “is an interesting word. It means lack. Sometimes if we fill that lack with something else the original want disappears entirely.”

A person was like a city. You couldn‘t let a few less desirable parts put you off the whole. There may be bits you don‘t like, a few dodgy side streets and suburbs, but the good stuff makes it worthwhile.

Happy moments can turn into pain, given time.

It was a morning like other mornings, and yet perfect among mornings.

This book was nice. I don‘t have any unusual adjectives because it really was nice. Not as a lesser word for great but as a comforting read. The characters are very lovable and captured me immediately. Their story of love (not just romantic, but really all sorts) was so beautiful, it gave a new look on what we classify as “love”. I won‘t say this book made me cry or feel any extreme emotions, but it left a sense of comfort and warmth.

When history is written by the victors the narrative can often misrepresent that shape.

Everything changes, nothing perishes

I‘m so excited to start this one! It took me two days just to start it because I thought I wanted something “light-hearted”. Who am I kidding? I thrive in the chaos.

I finished this book ages ago. But I procrastinated against writing a review… which is not good for me but here I am. Anywho, this book — albeit traumatising — is brilliant. Are there scenes which are horrifying? Yes. Are there scenes which are so vividly described you get goosebumps? Yes. How do I feel about this? I love you, Leigh Bardugo. Seriously though, it never hurts to have a bit more trauma, especially not when it‘s well written.
