My sister came over for a visit, which naturally turned into us fangirling over Pride & Prejudice. Which then led to us making this. #boiledpotatoes
"What a superbly featured room and what excellent boiled potatoes. Many years since I have had such an exemplary vegetable."
Without a doubt, the 1996 BBC adaption of Pride and Prejudice by Andrew Davis featuring Jennifer Ehle and Colon Firth.

A carriage ride and then musical entertainment during tea. It has been lovely. #pemberlittens #janeite Stowe is also a fun town. Some really yummy beer if anyone also is interested in microbrews. Lots of crafts and nature. So many beautiful places to hike and explore if I had more time!

Uh oh - my P&P obsession is expanding beyond just pretty new editions and has entered puzzle territory with 2 jigsaw puzzles and a puzzle book. Plus, two new gorgeous editions including the Marjolein Bastin illustrated edition and this version with 19 folded, handwritten letters inserted throughout the text.
Fire Island is out on Hulu!
This is a gay Pride and Prejudice retelling!!
I watched it last night and really loved it.
Margaret Cho plays the Mrs Bennet character 💕
I loved that I could tell who each sister was in the first 5 minutes 😂. It made watching it (and waiting for Whickem) so much fun.
The first line from pride and prejudice (edit), ‘It is truthfully acknowledged that man with a good fortune must have had a wife‘
I‘ve been posting some dark stuff lately, so here is something more cheerful. ❤️

My fourth re-read of this book and it‘s still as magical as the first time💕

1. I already mentioned this in the review I wrote yesterday, but definitely the humor.
2. Wickham dies at the Battle of New Orleans. Lydia, who insisted on following his regiment to the States, becomes a serving girl at the Old Absinthe House and has many colorful adventures, embodying the egalitarian spirit of the New World as she casts off the shackles of England's class-based society.

Jane Austen is funny! "Of course she is, you dumdum, tell us something we don't know," is probably what you're thinking, since it's my impression the average Litten has read each Austen novel several hundred times. But this was my maiden voyage, and I wasn't sure what to expect. My previous verdict on 19th-century English novels was that they were something to be endured and appreciated rather than enjoyed, so I can't express how surprised...?

Tagged book was my unexpected best read.
Bailed on Dictionary of Lost Words, sadly.
A good month for reading 😊😋😍😘

I just realized that I'm getting ready to end this lovely month-long journey on a bit of a downer! I probably should have chosen one that I really liked as the grand finale, but since this one had #walk in the title, I went with it lol
So the main reason I didn't like this one was because it makes Colonel Fitzwilliam into the villain!! I've always had a soft spot for him, so I'm never going to jive with versions ⬇
"We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition, unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room, and be handed down to posterity with all the 'eclat of a proverb."
Why do I feel like Elizabeth is speaking directly to me here? ?

On his way to see the new estate that his friend has leased, Darcy is thrown from his horse and knocked unconscious. Someone finds him and takes him to the closest house, and despite the fact that the Bennets have no idea who this man is, they agree to shelter him while he recovers from his head injury. The doctor tells them that it is unknown whether people in this condition are aware of their surroundings, but ⬇

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
This one isn't in the system - I actually really enjoyed this story that somewhat follows the original, except Elizabeth is writing a novel and is delighted to add what she perceives as idiosyncrasies of her new neighbors into her story. When Darcy insults her, she writes him in as the villain of her tale. But after Lizzy's story is published, she begins to see Darcy in a new light and wonders if her pen was a little too harsh.
My main problem ⬇

If I've learned one thing from reading P&P variations, it's that the Bennet family should never go anywhere together in a carriage! Thompson ruthlessly kills off the whole family except for Jane and Elizabeth in the first chapter. The new heir of Longbourn shows up, except instead of the Collins we know from the original, it's that Collins's dad, who is, naturally, a super creepy dude. Elizabeth overhears a ⬇
It seemed liked #love was a good prompt to take a break from all my P&P variations and go with the original! While Sense & Sensibility will always be my favorite Austen, I really do love P&P so much. So many characters and small threads woven together into a story that well deserves its place on the list of all-time classics. Reading variations, even the terrible ones, is a fun thing to do because I love seeing the “butterfly effect“ of different⬇
Oh my, I laughed, I grimaced and I contemplated society and marriage.
Such a refreshing change from my usual choices, I'm definitely going to re read others!
#200PnPcovers @CrowCAH @mabell When I think of a woman in #hysterics I think of Mrs.Bennet, and the fact that Mr.Bennet must roll his eyes #hundreds of times a day…
Thanks for the #Two4Tuesday tags, @TheSpineView and @RaeLovesToRead
1. Yes, but not as many as I used to. I guess I read a lot of books that you could say are borderline classics, or underappreciated or "future classics", but as far as the agreed upon ones that kids have been reading in school for generations, rarely.
2. I've owned Pride and Prejudice for like 10 years and keep forgetting I have it, so that would be #1 on my list.
Happy book birthday to Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, one of my all time favorites and a 5 star classic read in my humble opinion! I really love everything about this novel — it encapsulates Austen‘s witty, clever and erudite writing AND pokes fun at social dynamics of over 100+ years ago. Yet, we still find this story relevant and poignant today. Truly a timeless classic that sparks so much enjoyment in its media + inspired art etc.
This was such an immaculate book! I can say that out of all the classics I‘ve read (and I‘ve read quite a lot of classics) this book is in my top 5! This book was a lovely mix of comedy and romance, I would totally recommend this to anyone and everyone! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And now, since I‘ve finished all my homework, it‘s...
TIME TO WATCH THE MOVIE ADAPTATION!
(Hope it doesn‘t disappoint🤞)
No excellence in music is to be acquired, without constant practice.
Of course. I will be reading the classic enemies to lovers! I‘ve recently pursued an interest in classical literature, and it has not disappointed me. I‘m finally starting this book, and then hope to watch to movie later! I do so hope that that the movie is well portrayed and not like some of the other movie portrayals of books. Excited!
These Classics , They never hesitate to surprise the readers with their content.
Couldn't resist this. P&P in 13 words. Gorgeous illustrations.
Wonder what War and Peace is like?

When you are in doubt.... read a classic!

Trying to be more literary, I listened to this book on a solo car trip. In the beginning I wondered when something would happen, but it just got better and better. Pretty much crazy Mrs.Bennett connives in any way she can to marry off her daughters. Incredible character descriptions, we know them all and their behaviors are not always “suitable”. Found myself laughing out loud several times at Austin‘s sharp sarcasm.
Pride and prejudice memes always crack me up 😂😂😂
Well, if I‘m going to be a villain, at least I‘m a proper one!

I‘m so glad that I read this classic! It was a little hard to get through due to the speaking style, but I managed. I loved that the female protagonist was such a strong woman, considering the times. The events that took place in this story really gave meaning to the title. If you haven‘t already read this book, I recommend it.
