If curiosity is a disease; I never want to be cured. I will read anything recommended to me; and have yet to bail on a book, no matter how bad

Can caste be an anhilated? Not unless we show the courage to rearrange the stars in our firmament and those who can themselves revolutionary develop a radical critique of Brahminism. Not unless those who understand Brahminism sharpen their critique of capitalism. not until we read Babasaheb Ambedkar. If not inside our classroom outside them.Until then we will remain what he called sick men & women of Hindustan who seem to have no desire to get well.

John Mott:
apart from this unseemly competition, should they not preach the gospel with reference to its acceptance?
Gandhi:
well, some of the untouchables are worse than cows and understanding. I mean they can no more distinguish between the relative merits of Islam and Hinduism and Christianity than a cow. You can only preach through your life. The rose does not say: 'come and smell me'

A Thousand Splendid Suns | Khaled Hosseini
Pickpick

Mariam and Laila connection bonded by haraami; one is defined by it and the other births it. Khaled does a great job of bringing Afghanistan to life, much like he did with the Kite Runner. The story is heartbreaking and warming of the perseverance of these women characters.

Educated: A Memoir | Tara Westover
Pickpick

It is shocking and heart writhing. In the most affluent nation of the world, amidst so much opportunity, and a digital world so accessible; comes a story of triumph over forced ignorance. Such a worthy read and reminder of the reality of the world we continue to live in.

Educated: A Memoir | Tara Westover

Whomever you become, whatever you make yourself into, that is who you always were. It was always in you. Not in Cambridge. In you. You are gold. And returning to BYU, or even to that mountain you came from, will not change who you are. It may change how others see you, it may even change how you see yourself—even gold appears dull in some lighting—but that is the illusion. And it always was.

Leonardo da Vinci | Walter Isaacson
Pickpick

It took me a while to read this, but it has given me a profound feeling about the genius that Leonardo was. Sfumato and the fact that the world is not made of straight lines; such a simple yet profound observation.
