This is another great book that would be great to have on the shelf all year but be sure that it gets brought out at some point in the year for everyone to see. I was personally shocked to read everything that Harriet did throughout her lifetime.

This biography is uniquely written because it‘s in the style of a poem. The illustrations really bring this story to life and grab the reader with their beauty. This book also brings to light all of the many things Harriet Tubman did, and not just one or two of the things she‘s most well known for.

Early on, though, I wasn‘t expected to amount to much. “It is a great piece of folly to attempt to make anything out of my early life.”

My favorite thing about this book is most definitely the illustrations. They are absolutely stunning and I would want every child to see them and really appreciate them and the story.

This biography encompasses Abraham Lincolns life from childhood clear through his presidency. Along with Washington, Lincoln is one of the most easily recalled presidents by kids so it‘d be great to have such a detailed book about him. This book also has paintings of Lincoln that have won awards, and they really bring the book to life.

From the beginning the baby was a disappointment to her mother. She was born red and wrinkled, an ugly little thing. And she was not a boy.

It seems like kids mostly know about a few presidents but never about the First Ladies. This would be a great book to have because Eleanor was very impactful and it‘d be a great stepping stone into learning more about the presidents and their wives.

It‘s easy to see that this book was written after tons of research. The illustrations are extremely detailed and beautiful. This is the story of Eleanor Roosevelt‘s life and how it wasn‘t always fabulous and happy.

But cleopatra was strong willed and ambitious. She longed to return her country to the glory of its earlier years.

I think that this book does a great job giving tons of detail. The illustrations are very detailed and really bring the story to life. The readers can easily flip to maps/pronunciations/etc while they‘re reading which is great.

This would be a great resource for children who are or aren‘t familiar with cleopatra. Not only is this her biography, but the book includes maps, pronunciation guides, and a bibliography. This may be better suited for older children.

Her husband, Raymond Parks, one of the best barbers in the county, had been asked to take on extra work at the air force base. And the first day of December was always special because you could just feel Christmas in the air.

This is a book that I would want to have on my shelf for kids to read. I would leave it out all year but be sure to bring it out during certain times of the year or for certain units.

This biography has great detail and very realistic illustrations. I think that the illustrations really support what the text says and provides a greater understanding. This is an incredibly important part of history so this book would be great to have for kids.

When Henri was a young man, he drew pictures in his law books and on contracts, deeds, and wills.

It seems like there are always a handful of children who always love to draw. I think that they could find true inspirations from this, or someone who has some kind of disability could find inspiration and see that they can do anything they love.

Yet again, another true inspirational biography. This is great because it sends the message that you can overcome any hardship and do what you love. Even when Henri became bound to a wheelchair he created his best known work.

When his mother gave him an old microscope, he used it to look at flowers, raindrops, and blades of grass. Best of all, he used it to look at snow.

I love the format of this book! It‘s so different and reminds me of The Mitten almost. The illustrations are also very warm which reminds me of winter and cold.

This is another biography that highlights how something so normalized now was not appreciated back in the day. Wilson Bentley was very persistent and passionate about capturing snowflakes and nature and would not be deterred. This has a great message for kids.

When he is nearly three, his parents promise Albert a surprise, and he expects a toy. When instead they present him with a baby sister, he says, “where are the wheels?”

There are many people in history who kids never see the humanized side of. No one is perfect, even very important people. I think it‘s important for them to see that everyone has had ups and downs and has their flaws.

This biography would definitely be inspirational to children. It gives good details on his life and how he was different from others. It doesn‘t glorify him & make it seem like he was always seen as perfect. The illustrations are also very cute and appropriate for the time.

Elizabeth proved that she was as smart as any boy. And soon the boys wanted to know what Elizabeth thought about this or that. It took the townspeople longer to accept her. Some people are afraid of anything new or different. Not Elizabeth.

I definitely want this in my classroom! This book could be read aloud for a variety of reasons, it‘s so applicable. This book overflows with empowering messages and themes.

Talk about a book that screams girl power! Even though this story is very old, it is inspiring and awesome. Today most kids would never imagine women not being able to be doctors, even though this was only about 200 years ago.

It all seemed like a dream, until I saw a giraffe, who stared directly at me. It had dark eyes, long lashes, a black tongue, and was chewing acacia thorns.

This is so cute and I loved the illustrations. My favorite thing was all of the positive themes that had not only to do with people but also animals.

This book is so cute and has an amazing message! This will inspire kids and it will shock them her friendship of a chimpanzee. This is definitely a feel good biography

I would love to have this book in my room even if I couldn‘t use it in a lesson. I think kids would get so much out of it just from experiencing what this book has to offer.

This book would blow many children‘s minds, as they have probably never thought of traveling any other way except by car. This would take them on a journey by train across the US. The words and pictures work together to make readers feel like they‘re actually there.

I love this book because I think it might spark kids interest and make them want to go exploring with their parents. If it was available, it could be an assignment to have parents go out with children and observe what they see all around them.

This book has such a cute story line! It demonstrates a bonding moment between parent and child and the child learning about what‘s under and above the water he‘s on. This would be great when learning about habitats because it discusses wildlife in and around the water.

Monday‘s, there were hogs to slop, mules to train, and logs to chop. Slavery was no ways fair.

My favorite thing about this book is that it doesn‘t just focus on the slaves working, but depicts them as people and doing things that they enjoy. Granted it may not be how all slaves lived but it‘s a good intro book. Note that there is some violent illustrations.

This book would be so useful for introducing slavery! The words in this book are very lyrically written and the illustrations are unique and beautiful. This gives the story of not only slaves working but them enjoying their music and friends.

I think this is such an awesome book! I would just be worried that some kids might get overwhelmed by the amount of “stuff” that‘s on every page. But it has awesome resources!!

This book is packed with information and resources! There‘s not only the story but also facts, illustration and poems on the pages. This book is told from a chicks point of view on how nests are made and relates them to houses and beds.

This book has amazing illustrations! I also think that the book using my familial terms will make it so much easier for them to understand and get a good grasp.

This book could be very useful introducing a subject that later down the line becomes very controversial. I think that even though not everyone believes in evolution this is a good book to introduce the concept & that organisms do change over time.

This story is so cool because most kids are familiar with Winnie the Pooh. This tells the true story of how he came to be & I think kids would be so fascinated by it! The illustrations are so wonderful that they‘d capture kids.

My favorite thing about this book is definitely the illustrations and page set ups. Everything is so different and I think kids would be infatuated.
