This is what we're currently reading in the classics book club I'm a member of in my community. I'll give a proper review later but for now I'll say its full of incredible quotes but I'm not finding it an easy read.

This is my personal choice read at the moment. I am really enjoying it but have 3 other reads on the go with a sense of obligation tied to them, so it's on pause at the moment.

A quarter of the way through this, the first book we're reading in the book club I started at work this month. We already have 23 members!

Nearly finished this one. A suspenseful tale, though a bit gritty for me. Some violence was difficult to read though authentic for the story. #London #BritishAuthors #ZaqAndJags

Got to chapter 11 last night and it's gripping! Filled with action and London references from the start, which got me hooked. The language is a little laddish for my taste but authentic for the characters. It's my goal this year to incorporate more diversity in my reading, and I'm enjoying the break from "middle class white ladies." Note: Amer Anwar will be at the #EssexBookFestival this year! South Woodham Ferrers library, 6th March.

Finished my library books, not ready to sleep yet. Switching to Kindle for the rest of the evening. #library #kindledeals

I have never liked the theory that poltergeists only come into houses where there are children, because I think it is simply too much for any one house to have poltergeists AND children. #quote #shirleyjackson

Yes. This is really doing it for me. It's sombre and mysterious. It touches on WW2, topical matters, loneliness and folklore. It references #Essex. Highly recommended. #librarybook #englishauthors

uncommonpoppy Thank you @CoffeeNBooks ! Nice to connect with people who love reading as much as I do. 6y
Severnmeadows I found the Essex Serpent in a charity shop - but couldn‘t get past the first few pages. Some books resist you, for whatever reason. 6y
uncommonpoppy @Severnmeadows I was the same actually, despite being very keen seeing as it's one of the few books I've ever known that referenced where I lived. I had to go back to it later. This one was different, I was drawn into the story right away. 6y
Severnmeadows @uncommonpoppy I‘ll certainly give it a go then, Thankyou. (edited) 6y
