This book didn't grab my attention in the first chapter like The Wrath and the Dawn did. In fact, it took about the whole first half of the book until I became invested. The plot felt a little watered down..but what the plot lacked, was made up for in world building and characters. The chemistry between the character left something to be desired, but each one individually were incredible. And the world was packed full of beautiful descriptions.
