The Winter People: A Novel | Jennifer McMahon

Nope. Nope. Nope. I honestly don't understand how this book has such good reviews online. It reads like a book that was written only because the publishing house requested another "hit" from the author. So predictable. It gives away the "surprise ending" within the first 50 pages (I think less) and all the women in this book are SO unlikable! There's not one character that you can feel bad for, except maybe one of the men. Skip it.

Lullaby | Chuck Palahniuk
Pickpick

In true Palahniuk fashion, all the characters are hot messes. But, enjoyable hot messes that you end up liking and empathizing with. This book is pretty dark, as far as what the lullaby actually is and does, and what has brought all these characters together.

Finished this, and I really do feel like I'm the only person that didn't like it... I didn't find it scary at all, and I feel that the author had too many unnecessary situations and details that did nothing for the plot. The last 1/4 of the book was just so disappointing 😕

More Palahniuk for my collection, and also my favorite classic: Great Expectations. Half-Price books, you are one dangerous beast!

I had read over 3/4th's of it and this hot mess of a book had gone absolutely nowhere. I only finished reading it because I was hoping something amazing and unpredictable would happen aaaand nothing of the sort happened. I want the whole 5 nights it took me to read this back in my time bank 😑
