This is #aPlay that is still funny today, even though it was first performed in 1775. #gratefulreads @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

This edition isn‘t dated, but the publisher (Barse and Hopkins) plus New York on the title page indicates that it was published between 1909 and 1925. At any rate, no later than 1937 when Grosset & Dunlap (who bought them in 1932) quit using the imprint. And I love the #cover! #litsyclassics @Sarah83
My name is Serena.
My #LitsyHandle is MrsMalaprop.
Mrs Malaprop was a character in an 18th century play who had a tendency to use an incorrect word in place of one that is similar in pronunciation. Eg. Pacific for specific.
I have used Mrs Malaprop as a handle on various online forums over the years, including when I met my husband online. Incidentally his handle was Wendsleydale after the classic Monty Python cheese sketch 🤣😂.
