I super loved Josie as a kid and adored the movie revival in university so I had high expectations. I'm thinking the trade might be a better way to go. This first issue introduces the main characters, forms the band, and not much else. The art is cute. One great plus for the monthlies: an old Josie story with accompanying note tying it to the new run. #mommyreads #comics #singleissue #riverdale

alanacristin I quite liked it! But I'm a sucker for derby stories and intro issues 😜 I'll likely have to wait for the trade to read the rest though since i haven't worked out a comic shop in Tokyo and just can't with digital comics. Have you read it? 8y

moranadatter I have. There wasn't much story in this issue, but I think the derby 101 was necessary to allow for a broader audience (and handled well) so I'll give it another issue or two to see how it shapes up. 8y

alanacristin @kmdartist we were in Canada for work for a few years but just moved back to Tokyo. I'm visiting my folks in the States and binging on comics 😍i agree about the necessary derby intro info 👍 i also liked the setup of rival teams 💪 8y

acktopus @ultrabookgeek I was legitimately stunned the first time I saw the movie because the trailers and ads made it look terrible. It was straight up great! I'll put it right up there with stuff like Galaxy Quest and Naked Gun. 8y

I have to say Archie comics does a great job at updating the Riverdale universe. Between this and the new Sabrina and Afterlife with Archie I am impressed. This is an enjoyable modern take on Josie and the Pussycats and I hope further issues introduce new adventures. This was a fun way to end my #HelloOctober readathon. 🎼🎤🎸💄🐱
