The film is better but the play is still good. How amazing it would have been to see Laurence Olivier (Becket) and Anthony Quinn (the king) star in its 1960 opening on the New York stage!

Goal=read more classics in 2020.In this edition there are 2 plays: the first one (tagged) is a social criticism of the time (1170) to the church and monarchy. 2nd play The Waltz of the Toreadors is a farce about "social convictions" of what is love, marriage & other human emotions/relations.Both plays have humorous sarcastic/ironic tone. There are mysoginist comments, part of the social criticism? We cannot forget the past in history. Enough! 3.8⭐️
