Anthropophobia is, literally, “fear of humans”.
VonDerrit Myers was a black teenager who was fatally shot by Jason Flanery, an off-duty cop, in St. Louis, MO in 2015. The officer claimed that VonDerrit had a gun, but that claim has been repeatedly challenged. No charges were filed against the officer.

I‘m switching it up from Margaret Atwood‘s collection THE CIRCLE GAME, and sharing poems from Joshua Bennett‘s debut THE SOBBING SCHOOL. I had the pleasure of hearing him read last night at The Midtown Scholar Bookstore, and it was so powerful!
