Detective Aimee Leduc fears that a group reminiscent of the 1940s Red Terror gang is on the loose - and her long-lost mother may just be one of them... The LA Times writes, 'With its sights, sounds and colourful past, it's a particularly eventful and involving Paris visit'. Marcia Muller says 'I immensely enjoyed this exotic journey through Paris' Sentier district. An intricately plotted thriller'.

A mystery inside a mystery. We are drawn back to an old crime Aimee‘s mother perpetrated. However, the biggest mysteries go unsolved.

I‘m one book behind the rest of the gang, so I guess I need to read this one before next week! I guess this wasn‘t exactly Andrew‘s fave 🤣

Andrew65 Too right. 😢 Books gone from 4.5, to 3.5, to 2.5. Hope the next book reverses the trend. 5y
Crazeedi I agree with @Andrew65 ratings 5y
Crazeedi Are we reading number 4 now?? I cant remember! Lol @Andrew65 5y

gradcat @Crazeedi I‘m still in—I‘m enjoying Aimée LeDuc very much! We‘re supposed to start number 4 on the 22nd of this month. How are you? I‘ve been missing you!! ? 5y
Tove_Reads @gradcat Had to read several books before I went to a crime novel festival, so fell behind with this series. However, ready to continue with Bastille next week! Then I‘m traveling again in November so I‘ll miss the next buddy read. 5y
gradcat @Tove_Reads I want to go to a crime-novel festival! So jealous right now, I can‘t even stand it! 😂 5y
Crazeedi @gradcat I'm good, did you get my email? On my way to cabin at lake today, for a week!! 5y
gradcat @Crazeedi I hadn‘t gotten it as of yesterday, but I‘ll check again! A week at the lake—you‘ve got the life, my dear!! 😂 Hope you have a fantastic time! 5y

Another solid entry in Cara Black‘s Aimée Leduc series: The third novel finds Aimée in touch with a woman, recently released from prison, who claims to have knowledge of the mother who disappeared from Aimée‘s life when she was only eight. It seems that her mother was a member of the radical Haader-Rofmein gang (à la Baader-Hofmein). Aimée is searching for still living members at the very same time that someone else is killing them. Action-packed!

EadieB @gradcat - Nice review! Onto the 4th book! 5y
Andrew65 This was my least favourite of the three so far. 5y
gradcat @EadieB Onward! & Sorry @Andrew65 ... if they get worse, will you stop reading them? And thanks for your compliment, Eadie ♥️♥️ 5y

EadieB @gradcat You‘re welcome! I thought someone said that these books do get better. 5y
Andrew65 @gradcat You never need to apologise, I certainly will be continuing with series. Not helped that I can only get hold of them as audiobooks. My library has 1 (Yes ONE) of the series. 5y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Glad to see I wasn‘t alone in this thought. I felt the subject matter didn‘t really engage me in this one and felt very different to the previous 2 books. Hopefully book 4 will be an improvement, forever hopeful. @EadieB @gradcat 5y
Andrew65 Interesting that Goodreads has a different view to me has improving scores from book 1 (3.38) to book 3 (3.67). I would have a differing view. For me book 1 - 4.5, book 2 - 3.5, book 3 - 2.5. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 I‘ve been doing mainly audio too. 5y
gradcat @Andrew65 & @Crazeedi & @EadieB I‘m really sorry the books are so hard-to-find/limited-transmission styles for you, Andrew. I‘m always bogged down & behind, so don‘t worry if you get behind. I understand that they get better & better, Eadie, so 🤞🏼 for that. Meanwhile, Diane, I can easily see how the subject matter can go from zero to interesting with all of our respective tastes. I hope the next one is better! (Oops, Andrew—I apologized again!) 5y
Andrew65 @gradcat 😂😂😂 I‘m watching! (edited) 5y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Will the 4th be 1,5???? 5y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Please God, Hopefully not! Need to break that mathematical pattern. 5y
Andrew65 @gradcat Library just bought books 2 and 3 as ebooks! Too late! 😡 5y
Crazeedi Hey girlfriend!👋❤ 5y
gradcat @Tove_Reads & @Andrew65 Omigod—let‘s hope not! Agreed, hope that mathematical pattern breaks! And isn‘t it just like everything in life?—That your library gets the books only AFTER you need them? Andrew, your luck sounds about as good as mine is!! 😂 5y
gradcat @Crazeedi Hey woman! 👋 5y

Det Aimee Leduc fears that the 1960s Red Terror gang is on the loose -- and her long-lost mother may be one of them. Aimee wants to learn the truth. She is to meet Jutta Hald in the Sentier. When Aimee arrives, Jutta is dead. I like that we learned more about Aimee's mother. She attempts to clear the name of her French policeman father. I find her books well-written and fast-paced and the characters are unique. Recommended!

gradcat Good review, Eadie! I‘m excited to learn more about Aimee‘s mother now. ♥️ 5y

gradcat Hey! You didn‘t tag me—aren‘t you in the buddy read group that I‘m in? Anyway, great going reading that many books—stellar achievement! I‘m working on finishing this book now. Are you still visiting your sister? Hope all is well with you! ♥️ 5y
Crazeedi @gradcat I just got home, yes I think I'm in group, what book are we reading? I cant remember crap right now, I'm all out of whack!! Help!! 5y

Eadie has finished & posted; I‘ve finished but not posted. Obviously, you‘ve finished & posted...not sure where everyone else is at the moment. 😂♥️ Oh, and P.S.—I hope you had a good time at your sister‘s! (edited) 5y

First book of the new year, in memory of my Dad who introduced this series to me. Aimee Leduc is a French-American IT security specialist whose mother disappeared from her life. A former terrorist contacts her to offer information on her mother in exchange for information which Aimee doesn‘t have. Quickly moving to murder, coverups, betrayals, and danger, this is a fun and quick read.
