I've been looking forward to reading this book since I bought it in 2017 and STILL haven't got round to it, but it does fit today's #haunted prompt perfectly- Monstrous Monday!

Hmm. Unexpected, a slow burning plot line with little action. Hel is difficult to like and makes absolutely no attempt to make the best of things but she is also someone who has never been on the receiving end of kindness or love so her actions do make a sort of sad sense. Not sure if I‘m cut out for mythology - the (male) gods actions just make me mad at this point. Loved the audio narration.
⭐️⭐️ The cover of this is absolutely gorgeous. When I read the synopsis and found that it was based on Norse mythology, I borrowed it straightaway. After being banished to the world of the dead, Hel starts to build the biggest palace - bigger than her Asgard rivals. And it includes a wall *shudders.
I was expecting a badass, bold young woman, who made people bend or break to her will. It definitely wasn‘t what I was expecting at all
Good morning, Littens! I have made my way through the top two books, and am currently reading the one on the bottom. Happy @24in48 #readathon! 🤘🏻📚❤
Picked out my stack of physical books I want to try and read this weekend for the @24in48 #readathon. I have a few e-galleys to check out as well. 📚🎉💗
Unexpectedly, this book tells a tale of myth and legend, all from the perspective of a sullen and sarcastic teen, who just so happens to be the child of Loki. Perfect for any who have an affinity for mythology.
Well this was an unexpected delight. Popped up when I was browsing audio books and I thought the premise - "meet Hel, an ordinary teenager - and Goddess of the Underworld" - sounded intriguing. The premise is slightly misleading, since Hel is the daughter of a God and a Giantess, and she's never ordinary. But I just adored her. Sometimes brutally honest and at others dripping in sarcasm and facetiousness, she was fabulously narrated.
Read this in one sitting earlier this week. Loved the inclusion of Norse mythology and Hel as a bitter and sulky teenager.
