Agree with other posts on this one - total HP vibes - JKR must have read this one at some point!
More MG than HP is but still a fun, magical adventure!

One of Eva Ibbotson's best works for sure. This book delivers on lighthearted fantasy which anyone of any age can read and enjoy. I especially loved how all the characters here stood out, which is something you see clearly in middle grade books. If that cover wasn't amazing enough, the illustrations inside made the book even better.

"Though there were so many unusual creatures on the Island, the royal family was entirely human and always had been. They were royal in the proper sense – not greedy, not covered in jewels, but brave and fair. They saw themselves as servants of the people which is how all good rulers should think of themselves, but often don‘t."
The way I dropped all the other books I'm currently reading when this arrived. 😍 Eva Ibbotson's Island of the Aunts was a big part of my childhood, and I only recently learned she wrote other books. 😯
Good fantasy YA novel. First one I've read of this author, but one of my daughters once told me she was good. Has a bit of a Rowling flavor. Very fun.
Starting this YA or children's fantasy book. Has a little taste of J K Rowling, which makes me wonder if she read it.
Not me JUST realizing that the late 2000s romances Eva Ibbotson was the same as early 2000s fantasy middle-grade Eva Ibbotson (I remember thinking Dial-A-Ghost was such fun) 😂. Maybe I have come to this realization before? But it FEELS new.
Not read this book, but the blurb makes it sound like one I want to read. Enjoyed Which Witch by the same author. #Novemberbythenumbers #thirteen
I have a question for my friends that have read The Secret of Platform 13. Is there a sequel/series or is it a stand alone book??
Up next 😊😊
