#AutumnReads
My very first #CharacterCrush was for Sandokan (Kabir Bedi), a Character from a pirate story by a writer from my town. I was 6.
Many long years later, l fell for Waylander, an assassini with a soul, a recurring character in David Gemmell's stories. Many of my male characters still feel a lot like him.
And more recently, my heart beat for Saymour Polatkin (Evan Adams), an extremely complex character by Sherman Alexie.
#90sInJuly #MyHero
These are my English and ltalian edition of Waylander, a very unlikely, reluctant hero who's been my very favourite literary hero for years.
I liked (and actually l still do) his disillusionment about life and his will to keep fighting nonetheless.
Waylander is the first book by David Gemmell l read and l discovered a #KindredSpirit
Everything in Gemmell's stories resonates with me: his life philosophy, his characters, his humour. Much of my writing is heavily influenced by him: The kind of stories and characters, the writing style, the way to build a story, the use of speculative elements. I owe him so much.
