In December 2009, Google began customizing its search results for all users, and we entered a new era of personalization. With little notice or fanfare, our online experience is changing, as the websites we visit are increasingly tailoring themselves to us. In our day, we are all aware to some extent of the data captured and the algorithms used when searching the internet and using different platforms. To some extent, most are familiar with the personalization filters used to target and create individual universes of information for each of us, confirmation bias, lack of privacy, etc. Eli Pariser does an excellent job of outlining it in his book and dealing with questions how it impacts who we are.

Filter bubble is a state of intellectual isolation in which a person's personalized web search , selectively gives him the information excluding all those other information that reduces his situational and intellectual awareness in the internet domain.
