This TL-RA, PB, a European fairy tale about a little girl & a Big Bad 🐺 Wolf. It's origins can be traced back to the 10th century to several European fairy tales, including one from Italy called The False Grandmother. The two best known versions were written by Charles Perrault & The Brothers Grimm.

The grandmother loved the little girl very much and gave her a red velvet riding hood as a gift. The little girl loved her riding hood, and she wore it day and night. So everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.

I didn‘t think that I would like these illustration but I actually adore them! This would be for sure my number one choice if were to choose a little red riding hood retelling. I think kids would really enjoy this one.

The motifs of this story are of course the Wolfe, the basket of treats and the cape. All of these motifs are very familiar and I have never read a version of little red riding hood that didn‘t have them. The setting suggests a very easily imaginable place & is so real it might scare children of the woods. Overall I really like this version.

Whoa.

cathysaid Wow...this sounds like the material I learned in my Children's Lit class years ago. That class destroyed my fond memories of The Secret Garden. 7y
Chey12 This is from my Children's lit class! I've never liked LRRH; now, I know why! This and that most of the LRRH tales are basically a guide to acting properly. (edited) 7y
