This historical fiction story is based on the author‘s childhood and adolescence in the American mid west between 1870 and 1890. It was published in 1935. It is the story about how her family moves from Wisconsin to begin their new life in Kansas. As they are traveling they face many environmental obstacles. However they press on until they find the spot to build their new home.
