4 posts | 1 reading | 1 to read
Children's picturebooks are the very first books we encounter, and they form an important, constantly evolving, and dynamic sector of the publishing world. But what does it take to create a successful picture book for children? In this publication, Martin Salisbury and Morag Styles introduce us to the world of children's picturebooks, providing a solid background to the industry while exploring the key concepts and practices that have gone into the creation of successful picturebooks.

#ThankfulThoughts Day 7: #BookLoversDay is picturebook day for me. My Fridays are devoted to grounding myself in the beauty of picturebooks and/or poetry.

Leftcoastzen Great plan! I finally told my library to throw in a picture book bundle when I picked up my hold, can‘t wait to see what I got! #selfcare 4y
Soubhiville @Leftcoastzen what a great thing to offer! I‘d love to get a random assortment of children‘s books. It‘s almost as good as being able to go in to the library to browse. 4y
Leftcoastzen @Soubhiville It‘s the first time I‘ve tried it , they are doing magazine bundles too. They ask a few questions for ages & interests, wonderfully random. 4y

#SeptemberSenses Day 28: In this panel for the Asian Festival of Children‘s Content in Singapore, I have been invited to speak about picturebooks that build resilience in children during crisis - not necessarily those that teach #RightAndWrong but moving narratives that provide hope. This Saturday, October 3! Join us!

#BeautifulWords Day 13: I do have an #assemblage of picturebooks to read (and write journals on) for our research project on diverse books - possibly around 300 of them to read. I do not think I will be able to finish all of them over the summer, but will at least try a fraction of it. Work never stops for academics. Good thing is I love what I am doing, so there is that. 💕🧚🏼‍♀️📚

#BiblioMAYnia Day 7: This stack of books that arrived in the mail for my research project on diverse books and reading lives of teachers that I am co-leading with a very good friend and former colleague who is now teaching at UCL (University College London) makes me just want to #DropEverythingAndRead.
