ZOO (Novel)
ZOO (Novel) | Otsuichi
5 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
L to R (Western Style). Ten stories of horror and science fiction from Japan’s hottest young author. In one story, the last man on Earth turns out to be a robot. In another story, a man builds a house from the bodies of his murder victims. And in the book’s eponymous story, a man sees his girlfriend’s corpse decompose… one Polaroid snapshot at a time!

Pickpick

Creepy, chilling, amazingly creative. Absolutely loved this, I'd been looking forward to more Otsuichi since reading Summer, Fireworks, and My Corpse last year.

I made my last trip to the library before leaving for France for the summer. The English section in the library there is a lot smaller, so I'm "forced" to buy more books than usual. Oh no! ;) I usually at least like the books I read, but it has been a while since I've fallen in love with an author. I'm enjoying how dark this book is, so I'm hoping I will feel the need to go through more of Otsuichi's work when I finish this one.

Today's theme for the #AllHallowsRead #photoadaychallenge is "a scary read that deserves more recognition" --my pick, Zoo, is a short story collection by Otsuichi (a popular horror author in Japan, but not enough overseas). In this collection are included several horror stories. This is the two-volume Japanese bunko edition, but the book is also available in English.
