The PC Grant Novels
The PC Grant Novels: Rivers of London, Moon Over Soho, Whispers Under Ground | Ben Aaronovitch
1 post | 3 read
My name is Peter Grant and until January I was just a probationary constable in that mighty army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service (and as the Filth to everybody else). Then one night, in pursuance of a murder inquiry, I tried to take a witness statement from someone who was dead but disturbingly voluble, and that brought me to the attention of Inspector Nightingale, the last wizard in England. Now I'm a Detective Constable and a trainee wizard, the first apprentice in fifty years, and my world has become somewhat more complicated: nests of vampires in Purley, negotiating a truce between the warring god and goddess of the Thames, and digging up graves in Covent Garden . . . and there's something festering at the heart of the city I love, a malicious vengeful spirit that takes ordinary Londoners and twists them into grotesque mannequins to act out its drama of violence and despair. Collected here are the first three books in the PC Peter Grant series - RIVERS OF LONDON, MOON OVER SOHO and WHISPERS UNDER GROUND.

A free Peter Grant short story on Audible UK, set in the British Library at St Pancras, with a librarian nicknamed Hatbox who knew Peter's mum? And a poltergeist or something moving odd books around in the basement?

"Couldn't they just have been...?"
"No."

Well, ok then.

Centique Thanks for letting me know - I love Peter Grant! 7y
rockpools @Centique I hope it's there for you. I'm never sure whether these things are UK only 😕. It's fun, though! 7y
Sue Thanks for the heads up - it's available in Australia as well! 7y

rockpools @Sue Oh good! 👍 7y
Leniverse Ooh, thanks. I've been meaning to read those books. Will I be really confused if I start with this one? 7y
rockpools @Leniverse I'm pretty haphazard with series, and it's only 30mins so there's not much backstory, so you should be fine. Basically he's a police officer that deals with 'magical stuff' - that's it! Having said that, I've not actually listened to the end yet - audiobooks in bed never quite works out for me 😴 7y
Leniverse I'll give it a try then, and see if it entices me to move the full length books higher up on my TBR. 7y
