I read a good amount of books that touched on veganism or animal rights this year, some more strongly than others. My favorite of the bunch, though not #vegan at all, was Zooburbia, a look at how we coexist with the non-human animals in our world.

I've been #vegan since 2009, and it is the best shift I've ever made. Rory Freedman's first book led me down this road, and her last book, Beg, encompasses all the reasons why I no longer eat, wear, or otherwise use animals.

Seasoned vegans won't find much new in the pages, but if you love animals or have never stopped to consider how the food on your plate came to be, I recommend this book.

This pretty much sums up my unease with dog shows, breeding, and the unmanageable pet population we have.

I'm really bad about planning my month when it comes to reads. I currently have nothing checked out at the library (aside from my current read), and I'm waitlisted for Roadwork.

So, I've penciled these 3 in as likely January reads. The list will grow by month's end!
