A quick read that felt a bit like a fever dream. The story idea was fun and entertaining, but execution was a bit cringy. Layered with pop culture references and I didn‘t catch them all. But without reading a synopsis and just walking into it knowing it‘s a comedy, I had a few laughs.

(Day 7 - #Californication)

*I cannot hear that song without thinking of David Duchovny. He‘s actually a fairly decent writer. Consider the tagged book, which features a cow as narrator, a Torah-reading pig, a grounded turkey with an affinity for iPhones, plus a Box God who dispenses such revelations as the existence of “industrial meat farms.” Obviously, world problems are solved in the midst of all of their (mis-)adventures.

Totally bonkers and at times hilarious!
This book is not to be taken seriously its just a daft book and is written in that way. It has some silly sayings and alot of slang, so if you take your literature abit too seriously this will not be for you.
I thoroughly enjoyed it 😊 A light hearted and quick read which was very different to my usual type of book. I ❤ 🐄🐄

This short little novel was just delightful. Lighthearted and sweet. I like seeing Duchovney's silly side. He does silly very well. I recommend.

Just started this one to take a break from Philip k Dick and his sexism lol.....

It's important to let yourself feel all your feelings.

I might rate this 2+. I read it on a whim, having seen its cover in an article about celebrity-authored books. It's a basic, sort of preachy commentary on our treatment of animals told humorously (and not for work or children). It's a quick read. Take it or leave it.

What the what?!?! This is amazing! I‘m not on here as much as I would like, but I love it when I am. This is such a great, smart, funny, supportive, and all-around awesome community. Happy Reading Littens!

I remember sitting on the plane home from New York in 2015, and this book made me #laughoutloud multiple times! I loved David Duchovny in Californication, and I loved his writing in this modern day fable 👌

I listened to this short novel over the past couple days, and it made me laugh - much needed this week. The animal rights message is there, wrapped in a tale that's unbelievable. Having it read by the author was a bonus. #TheTruthIsOutThere

This happened today. I met David Duchovny and had him sign his books. I could only afford 1 autograph but he signed both anyway. He said he'd sign all the books. He even complimented me saying he could tell I work in a bookstore because I flapped my books. ❤

I'm a little late on this one but I had to get it in David Duchovny has been my #mancrush since the first episode on The X-files aired on television. Recently he started writing books and I love him even more. #octphotochallenge

A cute little fable, but as an omnivore, I never appreciate being preached at, and The Message was a little heavy handed.

Holy Cow is a zany fable about farm animals that touches on animal and environmental issues. While I love the overall message, the writing was a little obnoxious to me. It pains me to say that, David Duchovny! Phrases like "cray cray" and other very in the moment pop culture references just don't do it for me.

I basically bought this because of the author, I didn't know it was a vegan thing. Didn't know what I was expecting but it's hilarious. A re-reader for sure.

There is something in man that loves a wall, but what wall menders and fence builders do not get is that when they fence something out, they are also fencing themselves in. Not one but two prisons are made by one wall

This was nothing short of brilliant. I couldn't stop laughing while reading this.

AudioBook. This was a quirky novella read by the author. It is outlandish and improbable but the message was touching.

This book made me so happy. It was such a fun read to laugh your way through. Who knew a cow, pig, and turkey could be so funny.
